Permissions Post for Citadel

Hermit has a variety of powers in Citadel that can affect both the setting and other characters. This Permissions Post is for the affecting of other characters. I want to know what everyone will be okay with and not okay with.

Now it isn't Hermit himself that has these powers, it's the twig he carries with him. That twig can do some rather creative and scary things to characters so please answer each question below.

Thank you.

Ability One: The Deletion of Character items. Hermit's stick can delete items it touches, ranging from small, non-plot related items in and around the castle itself as well as your character's items. To do this he has to poke your item with his twig and it will be deleted in a flurry of green data. Now this can range from clothes, to things brought with them, to things they have wished for. Now this will be more of a case by case basis on what the item is but one is for if you want him to be able to delete your character's things in general or not.

Ability Two: The Freezing of Characters. Originally in The World, Hermit could delete people as well as items. Obviously here that doesn't work. So instead Hermit here can temporarily freeze your character for about 20 seconds. This isn't like trapping them in ice. Think more of Firefox suddenly not responding, only that's your character. Again he has to poke your character with his twig and then they suddenly freeze in place and cannot move and know of nothing happening around them for the next 20 seconds. Are you okay with this?

Ability Three: The Slicing through Character items. This ability is like the deletion of items only with a wave of Hermit's twig he can slice through objects, cutting them in half or damaging them. He can only cut things up to six inches thick. So clothes and thinner items are in danger here. Again, it will also be handled on a case by case basis so this is an overall would you allow him to do it sometimes question or rather him not do it at all?

Ability Four: The setting things on Fire. One of Hermit's most...random powers if I must say so is with a wave of his twig he can set things on fire. Now the things have to be flammable to do this so clothes, wooden objects, people, booze, ect are at risk of this happening. As with the others case by case basis will be taken into account but as an overall thing would you mind Hermit possibly doing this at one point. This can be used for both battle and comic relief as well. And he's great for starting camp fires too.

That's all of them. Just let me know by numbering your answers 1-4 and ask any questions you need to if you need clarification. Thanks again. ^__^

Citadel app

Player Information:
Name: Tsumi
Age: 23
Contact info: AIM: tseutsumi, Plurk: tseutsumi
Current characters: None.

Character Information:

Name: Hermit (Tanagami Touha)

Canon: .hack//Quantum (Anime)

Canon point: Hermit is from the moment the virtual prison was destroyed and he was able to get his hug from Sakuya before being deleted from The World.

Age: Mentally: 10. True age; 17

Appearance:

Hermit is a small purple and white furred cat-boy with yellow eyes. He wears green armor on his torso with a matching hat ,along with a belt, and side pouch. The white boots he wears he almost never takes off. He walks on two legs and his hands, though paw like, operate like normal hands. Due to his height he often has trouble with anything higher than he is and is forced to jump to reach things above his head. He is often expressionless around people he doesn't trust or like and can be very snarky in conversation. His tail is almost always moving in some way and is a great indicator, as are his ears, to what emotions he may be feeling.

Background: Before Hermit was known as Hermit and trapped within The World, he was a 10 year old by by the name of Tanagami Touha, an American citizen of Japanese decent. He grew ill at an early age due to an unknown illness, most likely some form of immunodeficiency. He was in a hospital in San Francisco and would play in The World during time between tests. He isn't sure when or how he entered the world but his first memory is waking up in his new cat avatar holding a black twig. Hermit thought it was a gift from God as the twig allowed him to do anything he wanted within The World.

He set out to find a donor for himself during his time in the world and discovered a way to do it. By hacking the implant chip that held people's personal information, including Social numbers, he could gain access to their gene records. It isn't know how long he was doing this but it was after the events of .hack//G.U. so it is somewhere between 2017 and 2022. He had PK (Player Killed) many people during this time in The World and had discovered quickly that the world for him was reality, not a game. He could feel pain and die though every time he did; he would awaken near a tree in an area only he could reach. It was in the year 2022 that things changed for Hermit. It was that year, around Christmas time, that he met Sakuya.

He first spotted Sakuya in one of the areas of the world that held the boss The One Sin. She had tripped a trap that instant killed 16 players and ruined the Guild quest they were on. It was there that Hermit had lost his list, an item that helped him to see player data and discern if they were a match for him or not. He couldn't find the list and went searching for the players he had seen at the event. It was then he ran into Sakuya. Though it was more he tripped over a cactus and she helped to pull the pins out of his foot.

They got to talking and when he thought she didn't have the list, he was getting ready to delete her. It was then people that had put out a bounty on Sakuya appeared and trapped them both. During the interrogation of Sakuya, she admitted that Hermit was her friend and this brought out a non-selfish side of the boy. During a fight, he helped to free Sakuya and fled with her and their friends. The chase ended up with them on a strange structure that mimicked the planets rotation around the sun. It was here Hermit was PK'd and fell down into the hole the structure came out of.

He awoke in the tree area sometime later to find most of the people who had been teleported with him when he died were PK'd, except for four. He tried to search through their items but none of them had the list. He contacted his informant to ask for another list to be made. He met up with him and got the list. He used it and the PK'd player's data to update the new list. What he didn't know was this updated the list Sakuya had as well. He met up with Sakuya later and was happy to see her. It was then she told him he had PK'd one of her friends and that she was in a coma now.

He wanted to fix what he had done so he went to his informant and tried to have him dismantle the tree and free everyone attached to it. It was going well until Hermit went to meet up with Sakuya again and overheard her talking to another player who said the sick boy Hermit was trying to save died in 2015. Hermit did not know he had died and was sent spiraling into a fit of anger and depression. He destroyed the computer the informant was working on and set it on fire before unleashing both part of the tree and monsters on a section of the world. He also turned Sakuya's friend into his own personal warrior.

Tired of living with no purpose, Hermit decided to end his life. This was brought about by a PKer telling him she was going to kill him to teach him manners. He decided to take down as many people with him as possible. He used a territory war event to unleash his monsters and began to hack bosses in the game as well as animated a monster that had a city on it's back. He rampaged through the area and when everyone ran off, he grew bored with no one coming to stop him. He then decided it should be Sakuya who defeated him so they could play together one last time.

He sent Sakuya a message to meet him in the city on his monster's back and that her friend was there. Sakuya didn't make it at first but her friend Tobias did. He had Eri, Sakuya's friend under his control, restrain him before going to wait for Sakuya. He lead Sakuya down to the center of the monster and revealed he was the mastermind behind everything and that he was the dead boy. He asked her to delete him and end everything. She didn't want to but there was no other way. Before she did, he asked her for a hug. She gave him his hug as he told her why he was so drawn to her, because he had been looking for her forever. The structure exploded and Hermit seemed to have met his final end.

In truth, his Father had used his connections to have his son put in cryostatus so that he would live until they found a donor. His mind was put within a digital prison, which was usually used on Life-Sentence inmates. The minds connected to the digital prison were made part of a Quantum computer. Hermit was used to test the computer and add more minds to it, but once the prison was destroyed, his mind entered a sort of status itself. When Sakuya turned 18, she entered the donor registry and was able to give Hermit what he needed to continue living. Hermit, Sakuya, Eri, and Tobias then began to play in The World together while keeping an eye out for anyone trying to use others as the mysterious string-pullers had used Hermit.

Previous Game History: N/A

Personality: Despite being only ten years old mentally, Hermit is a complex character. He is a small boy at heart and only wants friends. He was thrown into a situation he could not control and did the only thing he thought he could do to save himself. This unfortunately lead to him having to PK people and send them into comas in order to take their personal data from them. He had an idea of what his twig did when he poked people with it but he refused to think about it. To him it was scary and he thought it was the only way. Though doing that for years he grew into a very grey looking morality. He was selfish, some could say, in not thinking about the consequences his actions had on others.

Hermit is a driven boy. He will do anything he must to accomplish a goal set before him. He is also intelligent for his age as he was able to go about all his work without raising too much suspicion, then again CC Corp was also covering up his actions so that had something to do with it. He is immature yet strangely mature for his age. He throws tantrums like any 10 year old but his understand of death and pain is deep due to his own experiences. He finds death to have little meaning since he could not fully die in the world. To him pain was far more real than the threat of death. It wasn't until he decided he wished to die forever that he set the acts into motion that would lead to his inevitable demise.

Despite these darker tendencies, he is good at heart. He quickly became attached to his only friend, Sakuya, and was willing to undo all his work to help her and her friend. He wants friendship more than anything, though with it being so long without any friends he seems to be a bit on the Yandere side about it. He wanted to be with Sakuya all the time and even maybe meet her in the real world, when he thought it a possibility. That was why he chose her to be the one to kill him. He trusts those he sees as friends almost absolutely. The flip side to his is he is often secretive and distant with anyone else. He uses as few words as possible and is often snarky and down right rude if he dislikes them at all. He doesn't understand the social policy of playing nice. He doesn't hide his disdain for anyone as he doesn't hide his affection. With people he is very expressive depending on which side of the spectrum they fall on for him.

Overall Hermit is a lost and scared ten year old boy who thinks he is dead. He is confused and afraid of being alone. Due to this, he is greatly damaged and has a skewed view of the world. He doesn't see things as black and white but mostly as grey. He may have a hard time making friends initially but after some time he may open up to people he thinks he may like. The flip-side of this is for those he doesn't like he will most likely be even more snarky and almost cruel towards them. He isn't going to be the easiest little boy to get along with.

Skills and Powers: Hermit himself has very few abilities of mention. He has feline balance and agility though with his small size it doesn't help much. He is also somewhat strong as he was able to drag dead bodies up a hill in the rain but strength in The World was relative so most others could do that too. He is also highly gifted with analytic intelligence. He can analyze data and other things with remarkable speed and keep tabs on it mentally. Hermit also as the ability to make his items from The World appear at will in a flash of purple. This ability will not work on any items obtained by Hermit from the point he enters the City and onward unless they are items from The World that he obtains through dreams.

The main bulk of Hermit's abilities comes from the twig he has. This twig has the ability to manipulate The World and Hermit used it on many occasions. One power is he has the ability to delete objects and even people from The World. In the City he won't be able to delete people anymore though he may be able to poke them and freeze them. This freezing would result in time stopping for that person thanks to the twig 'glitching' them out, in a way. It won't last for longer than a minute before the person can move again and will need mun permission for it to work. He also won't be able to delete main structures of the city or anything created by the Weavers. Mostly it will be small things he can delete and should someone else's dreams interfere, the deleted item could repair itself in a matter of moments.

Another power the twig has is the ability to slice through things with a wave. This will follow the same rules as the deletion ability and need mun permission when slicing through character's items and cannot slice through anything made by the Weavers. It can also set things on fire. The thing being set on fire must be flammable and will follow the mun permission rule and Weaver rule I've set forth for his other abilities.

One last ability to twig seems to be able to do is it can enslave monsters to Hermit's will and bring inanimate objects to life. The enslavement power may work on nightmare creates of a lower caliber and will need mun/mod approval for it to work. The inanimate animation power can only be used on things with a proper anatomy, like a statue, and he can only bring things to life that are of reasonable size. No giant walking Godzilla statues but that doesn't mean a human sized statue of Abe Lincoln won't be chasing down people Hermit doesn't like.

Items: His twig; abilities are outlines above for this item.
Fish Sword; which is a broad sword his size that looks like a fish bone,
12 healing potions (potions that heal a small amount of damage),
5 healing elixirs (potions that heal all damage),
5 Antidotes (cures poision),

99 Popsicle sticks (yes popsicle sticks).

The reason I chose this particular mirror is because with it being a visor attachment for a helmet, it is similar to the first The World views. It is completely reflective on the outside and can work as a mirror. This will lead to a utility of it for Hermit in he can wear it and use the Audio function while walking or have the videos showing him if he is holding it or showing things from his perspective via accidental videos. I thought it would be a fun way to show his connection to The World through his mirror.

Writing samples:
Action: [Hermit's Lume activates and for a moment all people can see is one of the many streets within the city. The Lume turns to the side and what can be seen is a waterfall. Perhaps this person is in Prani. The view turns back to the street and it is on the move. The person is walking forward for a while longer before the Lume turns to the right to show the entrance to one of the many extravagant shops. There is the sound of a grumble followed by the voice of a young boy. Maybe it's a girl. Hard to tell.]

This is stupid. All of these shops and no food? I'm hungry...[The voice turns whiny as the Lume moves on. The view looks down to show a small body in green armor with...purple and white fur. Little white boots adorn the moving feet and small glimpses of paw-like hands can be seen swinging back and forth as this person walks. Seems their Lume is on their face. The child looks up and the Lume seems to raise and fall with a celebratory cry.]

Food! [The pace quickens as the person runs towards a stall that seems to have appeared out of nowhere. The boy moves in front of it and over the sound of metal and people moving, soft sniffing can be heard.]

Hmmmm. One meat bun please!

[The man at the stall nods and pulls a bun from the steam. He moves around the stall and hands it to the boy.]

That will be one Citrine please. [The boy hums and holds up his other hand. In a flash of purple, a black twig appears. He pokes the man in the forehead with it and though he seems to try and pull back he freezes in a rather uncomfortable and odd looking pose. The cat-boy laughs as he runs away and darts down an alleyway. He brings the meat bun up and the sounds of eating can be heard as the Lume deactivates.]

Third Person Prose: Hermit smiled as he handed over his ticket to enter the Fantasia Amusement Park. He had actually paid for it too, learning his lesson from the whole meat bun incident. He walked into the park with a bright grin on his face. He looked at all the lights, the people, the rides and seems to swoop and run right over his head. He clapped his paws together and knew just where he was going first; the roller-coaster!

As far as he could remember, he never got to go to any place like this before. Not in the real world and definitely not in The World. He would have been too short back in the real world anyway. He ran as fast as his little legs would carry him towards the line for the roller-coaster. He stepped into place and anxiously waited. His tail swished quickly behind him as the fur half-stood on end in anticipation. He jumped up and down a little every time the line moved forward just a bit. It didn't take too long before he was in front of the ride. The cars came to a stop and everyone exited.

His ears twitched as he listened to the people chatting about how great the wide was and it made his heart beat faster. The man motioned for people to move forward and the small cat took off. He was stopped by a hand suddenly in his face. The man shook his head and pointed to the sign by the entrance.

"Huh?" Hermit walked over to the sign and read it. 'You must be this tall to ride.' That red line was well above his head. The boy's cat ears went flat against his head and his tails once happy swishes were now flicks of the tip. He turned to the man with a huff.

"Come on! I'll be okay!"

"Rules be rules kitty. Sorry." The man shrugged and motioned everyone else on the ride. Hermit pouted as a couple took the front seat he had wanted. He turned before the ride took off and ran off. Okay, so that was one ride he couldn't go on. There had to be others, right?

The next hour was spent running from ride to ride; the tea cups, one called the Zipper, one that flung people around, and one with swings that people could sit on and be spun around super fast. Each ride had the same result, a sign telling people how tall they had to be and each time he was short, one time just too short. He tried to stand on his toes but the woman caught him and shooed him away.

The cat-boy retreated to one of the benches in the center of the park. He jumped up onto it and after a small struggle, got onto it and sat down. He wibbled and sniffled at how unfair this all was. Why was he too short? He couldn't he just ride one of the rides. He wouldn't get hurt but no, all of those people were just mean. He sobbed quietly for a moment before something pink was thrust into his face. He looked up in surprise to see a woman with rosy cheeks and a blue dress. In her hand was a thing of cotton candy. She smiled at him and giggled.

"Here you go, kitty-boy. You can have this. Cheer up." Hermit slowly took the treat and nodded. He watched her walk away before turning to the food. He slowly took a bite and felt his ears and tail shoot straight up at the taste. He purred loudly as he took another three quick bites and smiled. At least he was tall enough for this.

Any questions and concerns go here: The only concern I have is with my mirror choice. I do have an alternate mirror picked out if my initial pick won't work. Here it is.

I would prefer the first mirror but if it doesn't work out, I understand. ^^

Appearance:
Age: 10 years old
Gender: Male

Personality: Hermit is a rather complex character for a young boy. He is a sweet boy at heart or he was before his extended stay in The World. Originally he was a soft spoken boy who had no real friends due to being in and out of the hospital so much. At the age of ten his autoimmune disease flared up yet again only this time it wasn't stopping. He was sad, not for himself, but for his parents. He could see how hurt they were by this but could do nothing about it. Which was why when he strangely awoke in The World in a cat avatar form with his stick and other tools he set out to do something. He was determined to find a donor for himself so he could save his human body along with helping his parents. Over the years though, how many is unknown by even him, he was hurt and killed time and time again while he was trying to search for his donor. He didn't care what was happening to the people he was hurting by ripping out their personal data in his search. He was scared and just wanted to find the person he was looking for. During all that time he found no friends until he met Sakuya.

Meeting Sakuya and hearing her call him her friend changed something in Hermit. He didn't only care about himself anymore. He found himself drawn to the girl, wanting to see her and spend more time with her. In a way he was in love. And it was this love that taught him to look outside of himself and his wants. He grew a conscience and wanted to free all of the people he had trapped. Unfortunately this change of heart did not last long. It was soon after he went to meet Sakuya and overheard a conversation that said his human self had died seven years ago. So all of the work he had done, all of the people and everything was for nothing. Hermit broke hard. He spiraled down into a suicidal depression and began to attack The World itself. He crashed one of the servers and then infiltrated a server war. It was during this time he grew more angry at other players, envious they didn't feel pain or had to feel death whenever they died. So he was going to make sure they all did and take down as many with him until he was killed. Hermit's plan was to have Sakuya delete him in the end, dying one last time after revealing the Virtual Prison that kept him in the game. He wanted to die as the burden of a never ending future was too much for him to endure.

Overall Hermit is good person though misguided. It doesn't take much for Hermit to trust people as long as they seem kind and open towards him. Otherwise he is shy and distant. He sees people as more of a threat most of the time, his many deaths making him cautious and suspicious of others. He is still a ten year old boy, however, and desperately wants friends. But he is also driven now by a need to end his pain and is slightly obsessed with the thought of pain and death. He can be snarky towards people like the PKs who think killing and hurting others is fun. He can be very judgmental on first impressions and from them decide if he likes someone or hates them. For those he likes he will become close to them and think they can do little to no wrong. But for those he hates, he will distrust them at every turn and may hurt them if they try to harm someone he cares for. Being on this cats bad side is not where you want to be. Though his good side does come with some Yandere traits so it may not be all that much better.

Backstory: Hermit's history starts long before he entered the world. Over seven years ago he was just your normal ten your old boy. He had a loving family and attended school though he didn't have many friends. He was sick and weakly due to his frequent illnesses. It was when he was ten that his illness took a major turn for the worse. It turned out he had an auto-immune disease and his body was quickly deteriorating. He was put into the hospital for a time where all he could do was play the first version of The World, though he didn't get much time to enjoy it before he awoke one day in a strange place in a new body.

He awoke in a strange wasteland with only a large dead tree to keep him company. Attached to the tree were thousands of bodies in cages, all completely black and still. Hermit found he was in The World, ver. 2.0. He awoke to find he had a twig that would allow him to do almost anything he wanted in The World. He spent the next seven years searching for a donor for himself in the real world, never realizing the amount of time he was in The World. Over those years, he extracted the data from Players who would follow him to the tree when he died or who he poked with his twig and PK'd himself. Doing this caused those people to fall into comas and become "Lost Ones". Hermit didn't know this or rather he forced himself to not think about it because he was afraid to.

It wasn't until he met Sakuya that things changed for Hermit. She called him her friend and because of that he became attached to her, never having a friend before that point. Though he was still searching for a donor she became a purpose for him, to be with her and be happy. However soon after he learned he had died in the real world. With his purpose smashed, he lashed out against the world, wanting to hurt others. He interrupted a server war used it as an opportunity to destroy himself. He was tired of living, knowing he would never be free and knew he could not die as long as the tree existed. It tied him to The World and every time he died, he would reappear at the tree. He planned in the end to have Sakuya delete him and end it all. In the end the tree was destroyed and he was deleted, though he wasn't dead.

It turned out his body had been frozen by his Father to keep him alive until they could find a donor. And with Sakuya being revealed as a match, she vowed when she turned 18 to be his donor. In the end Hermit's motivations were to be happy again but when he believed it was impossible he wanted it all to end. He is unfortunately a very sad and lonely young boy over all who just wants to be happy.

Moral Standing: Overall Hermit is more Neutral than anything. He does want to be happy but isn't afraid to do things that are evil to do so. He also is a bit Yandere and will hurt those who hurt him or the ones he cares about.

Dreams: His dream is to no longer be alone. He wants friends and a family again, to be loved and love them in return. It is his overall driving goal.

Fears: To be alone and to have an endless future hanging over his head.

Extra: Any other details you want to add or feel need to be mentioned that don't quite fit into the above categories?

It has the ability to delete rocks and other items from existance, including other character's items, pending mun permission, but it cannot delete the doors or important puzzle items. Also he can no longer delete people though he can freeze someone in time for about 20 seconds, mun permission needed as well.

His twig can also slice through objects that are no thicker than six inches and again cannot be anything plot related and mun permission is needed if it is a player's item. Also he can set flammable things on fire, such as booze and clothing with mun permission as well. None of his twig's abilities will work on the shadows as well.

Writing Samples: You must include any TWO of the following:

1. I don't like it here. I know a lot of people say that. Not many could like it in this Castle, sure. But that's now what I mean. It isn't just the castle I don't like. It's everything. I don't like any of it. This place, these feelings, being here, anywhere. None of it I like. Back in The World it was the same almost. Only hear everyone can feel it. The pain, the cold, the hardness, dying. It isn't fair. If we die we come back, I know. I died here already and I just came back. The monsters are after us but so are some of us too. They're just like the PKers. They don't care about anyone other than themselves. Nothing is better here. It never will be.

And don't tell me it will get better. It won't. We're trapped here, trapped to keep exploring and finding nothing. Over and over. The future is endlessly hanging over our heads and we can't do anything about it. The Shadows will keep coming as will the PKers. The Queen wants us all gone too. We're doomed, that's just how it is.

Some of us have friends. I have one friend. But friends only help so much. They're nice when they're around but once they're gone it gets lonely again. It's just the same thing over and over again. I'm tired of it always going in circles. I'm tired period.

I just want to leave. I don't want to be here anymore. I'm sorry but that's how I feel. But we can't leave. We can't even die and escape. So what does that leave? Is there anyway to get free of this place or is all we can do is hope that one day we wake up back home? And what about those who have no home to go back to? What happens to them? Just so many questions and no answers. Just like back home.
